This is the only tune I remember singing for this hymn when I was in the Church of the Nazarene many years ago now. We did a LOT of hymn-singing and they usually were based on good theological grounds (unlike many of the songs we sing today!). I miss this!!

I remembering hearing this hymn in the 1970s, perhaps for the first time. I was a recent convert to the Catholic Church, and a high school classmate had invited me to a priestly ordination of members of the Dominican order held at St. Dominic's in Washington, DC. It was sung as the processional and I remember the friars in their white habits walking in orderly procession into this beautiful old church in a double-column and taking their places in the front of the church. I was deeply moved by it and have been every time since. It was also sung much less formally but not less reverently at the charismatic prayer meetings I used to attend in the 1980. I made sure that this hymn was sung at Theresa's and my wedding ceremony, many years later.
