I saw Don Ho in Hawaii in the late 60’s. We were on our honeymoon, and were just going out to see the sights and eat dinner. I remember thinking they had an excellent singer here😳

I vaguely remember seeing Don Ho on some TV variety show way back when, but the song is not familiar (except the title). This did, however, bring back memories of my grandfather who, after a few tipples, would regale us with a chorus or 2 of "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles."

Wow, my dad, a WW2 vet was a Don Ho fan, and my eldest granddaughter was born at Kaneohe. Thanks for the memories. 😊

Don Ho evidently was not "putting on" his respect for WWII veterans. I was very glad to learn that part of his story! I wish your dad could have seen Ho in person. He'd have gotten a round of applause, deservedly!

Thank you. Me too.

Ah, yes. I always tell folks that I'd like to be a time traveller .. going the other way!!

I love the alternate universe warning! A talented writer or filmmaker should make a book or movie set today… but with everyone still wearing suits at ballgames, having a common culture, etc…

Adrian, we don't have the heart or soul for it, I fear. As a society, we've been sold the myth that those were the "Bad Old Days." When I reflect on my childhood now, I see how rich it was in all the kinds of things that money cannot buy.
