When I first held our daughter Jessica in my arms, she looked up at me as if she had come from another world. In her eyes was the searching, the seeing.
I loved that you wrote about Jessica and her EYES! Yes! There is something special when a baby first opens his or his eyes. It IS like they “came from another world!” (I believe they “came from God.”)
Lovely. I, too, cannot believe that babies and toddlers have only the intelligence of a puppy or monkey. Watching my grandchildren, I constantly marvel at how quickly they catch on to complex concepts, at how much they learn in a short time.
Esolen Family - Thank you for the encouragement to this mother who read this post on her five-minute break, while rocking a baby with her foot, overwhelmed with morning chores and many mouths to feed and instruct on an ordinary Wednesday. Thank you for helping us see the Divine in the ordinary. The painting is beautiful, too.
