He was able to read a book title today and I’m thinking today about soon looking for some titles for low level readers to see whether he might be able to read to me. He used to read lots and has a great voice and dramatic flair. He always appreciated our common culture.

A Washington Post article from Feb. 13, 2020 reported that the Giants had used a telescope mounted in their center field clubhouse to relay to the Giants' dugout with a coded buzzer what Branca's catcher was signaling. Thompson hit his walk-off homer after the dugout signaled to him that Branca's second pitch would be a fastball. To Thompson's credit, however, he at least had the skill to hit fastballs.
