Just a quick aside regarding Jim Hawkins and Treasure Island: it is my experience, sadly, that hardly any youngsters today have ever heard of the novel - or have even seen the 1950 movie, probably in part due to the current executives at the Disney Corporation who have furtively kept it securely hidden away in the forbidden section of the "Disney Vault."
That's criminal, actually. Why the heck is not Treasure Island common knowledge among American kids, especially the boys? Stevenson and Kipling knew what they were about.
Serendipity for this to be WOTW. One of the highlights of yesterday was meeting a barely-full-grown Husky named Hero who took quite the shine to my furry little friend Gubbio. H didn't quite understand fetch, he thought it was just a race and that the ritual object wasn't worthy of his attention.
Wouldn’t you consider Hector the hero of the Iliad?

Hahaa! Well, he is a Hero-in-training, obviously!
