Here I am going through some older posts, but I'm happy to see one of my favorite hymns and learn a little about the history behind it. Thanks!

The version featured here today is not in any of my small collection of hymnals!

But, it's kind of funny. I was just looking this up yesterday due to a confusion of lyrics, neither of which was the lyrics in today’s song. I was singing "I know that my Redeemer lives, the Lord of liberty." Then I was also singing "I know that my Redeemer lives and ever prays for me." The first is words by Harold Donnelly, a 1928 version. The second is Charles Wesley, both set to Handel. Tune identified as Messiah.

I do find the tune that's used in the version here commonly used and identified as Duke Street.

However, poor Mr. Medley is not listed anywhere! Even Awake, My Soul, in Joyful Lays, which seems to be his lyrics, is not attributed to Medley! I do see that Medley was a Baptist and I don’t have a specifically Baptist hymnal. Is that the problem?
