A great essay. In college I did not take one philosophy class. I knew they were hard and I didn’t want to be taught philosophy by persons I believed were not simply atheists but deeply anti Catholic.
I was in a similar class as a freshman. Plenty of Rousseau, Kant, and Rawls… without so much as a hint of true wisdom… I wonder why they put us through that. Any chance you have a copy of your essay preserved?
