A great movie, not least because of the musical score by Hugo Friedhofer. As one example, listen to the music near the beginning as the three men are in the taxi just after landing in Boone City. It captures this buoyant feeling of coming home to an optimistic postwar America where anything seems possible.
John, we are glad to have you. And you nailed it with the music. Hugo Friedhofer won an Oscar for his score of "The Best Years of Our Lives." He was nominated a number of times, including for for his score of "An Affair to Remember," Wyler's remake of his own film, "Love Affair," which was last week's movie at Word & Song. There was some astounding talent working on the music during Hollywood's Golden Age. Now I want to go back and listen to the music during that Taxi scene!
You keep picking some of my favorite movies!
