Wonderful song. Long ago I started to take note of the credits of the movies I watched. Prominent among them were the composers. Alfred Newman came up in so many. In praise of him I could only speak in cliches, so I'll stop here.

Alfred Newman's story amazes me, really. I could have said much more, but I try to keep these posts brief and let the music "sing for itself." Imagine Alfred Newman, in his early twenties, arranging music for Charlie Chaplin, and inventing the concept of synchronizing the pratfalls and actions on screen with the music? Newman arranged and conducted Chaplain's music in "Modern Times" and "City Lights." I think a lot of people know Newman's music, but don't know that they do. How about this famous piece from his first film score, for "Street Scene"? Amazing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqjWf7qgoHg
