The film shows us a difficult triangle of love, husband and wife and their son, himself at the “yearling” age, on the uneasy boundary between boyhood and manhood.
I read The Yearling in June 1966 when I was bedridden in my Bronx apartment. I was 12 and suffering with a horrific sunburn. My strict Catholic School brothers had excused me from the last week of classes. The book was a great diversion and comfort, and because of my age then it remains a precious memory.
The Yearling (1946)
An excellent movie!
I still don't care for Jane Wyman. Lord, forgive me. (: Loved the movie, however.
One of my all time favorite movies.... so glad I have a soul close to your’s....
I need to see this movie. Gregory Peck's a bonus.
